Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square is home to yet another cooler than cool place to eat and drink. GOOD BAR, the newest creation of Josh and Nancy Kelly, and Kamala Saxton and Roz Edison (founders of the wildly popular Marination), will officially open at 4pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014.
GOOD BAR is located on the corner of 2nd Avenue South and Main in the newly renovated Pacific Commercial Building. Built in 1900 and once a Japanese bank, the bar still features the original vault and maintains some of the traditional aesthetics of the era like subway tiling and marble countertops.
Enjoy classic cocktails (Sazerac, Negroni) and modern libations like Filson & Co. (rye, cedar Campari, Carpano Antico, Laphroaig, and burnt orange peel) and Joe’s Drink (bourbon, Averna, lemon, cherry herring, Angostura bitters, and burnt lemon). Don’t miss their Whiskey Smash or a perfect-for-the-holiday season Moscow Mule. They also have an impressive beer selection, including a must-try sour beer.
Small plate dishes are classic and straightforward: hearty little sloppy Joes, sardines with broccoli raab atop a bean puree, milk braised pork, a ploughman’s lunch (for dinner), and baked oysters, to name a few. Try the Old Bay Boiled Peanuts, a tower of the fattest peanuts I’ve seen, boiled until tender with the famous crab seasoning.
GOOD BAR is definitely a place to enjoy good food and good drinks.
